What is an Off-grid solar energy system?

An Off-grid solar energy system is a system that contains solar panels, an inverter and batteries to store the sun energy collected.

This means that you have electricity from your Solar panels during the day from energy from the sun and excess energy not used gets stored in your batteries. When the sun goes down, your solar energy saved up in your batteries supplies your home and business with electricity. Your batteries gets recharged when the sun comes up again.

It is very important that your assessment upfront is done properly so that you make sure your system can generate the full electricity load you use.

On this system you don't make use of your local municipal electricity provider.

What is a Grid-tied solar energy system?

A Grid-tied solar energy system is a system that runs together with your local electricity provider (municipality). You generate electricity during sunlight that feeds into your business or home, while you also receive electricity from your local electricity provider.

This means your local electricity supplier (municipality) bill reduces because you use less of their energy because you also get energy / electricity through your solar energy system.

This reduces your costs to the local electricity supplier (municipality).

The system consists of solar panels and Inverter.

You use solar energy during the day and your local electricity provider during the night.

Will I have electricity during load-shedding with a Grid-tied system?

NO,  this is because there is no batteries to store the sun energy. You use the energy that you generate during the hours that there is sun.

What is a Hybrid Solar energy system?

A Hybrid solar energy system is a combination of Grid-tied systems and Off-Grid (Battery) systems.

This means, you generate electricity and power your house / business from the sun during the day and run your house / business on batteries during the night. Should there be no sunlight (rainy days) and your batteries have run out of their power, your system switches over to your local electricity provider as a back up.

This means that you reduce your electrical bill but also have electricity during load-shedding.

What is DVR and NVR?

DVR is short for Digital Video Recorder. This is typically an analog system. It records the digital video''s taken by the CCTV camera's and records it for a number of days on an external or internal hard drive.

NVR is short for Network Video Recording. This type of CCTV is internet based and stores the video recordings of the CCTV Cameras directly to a PC/ internet storage file of your choice. There is no limit of number of days recording on this system. It all depends on your storage capacity of your system.

How many days can a DVR record before over writing the video's?

Depends on the size of the hard drive.

1Tb of hard drive space typically gives you 45 days of recording thereafter it starts over writing day one's video with today's footage.

What does a typical CCTV System comprise of?

- CCTV Cameras where ever you want to place them.
- DVR/NVR to record the video footage
- MONITOR/ SCREEN to show the live video footage and playback.

What type of camera's do you get?

Static dome cameras - they are positioned in a direction you want. (stand still)
Static camera - they are positioned in a direction you want. (stand still)

Covert Camera - hidden camera

PTZ Camera (telemetry) - tilt up and down, zoom in and out, rotate.

How many channels can you get on a DVR/NVR system?

4;8;16 & 32 Channels are available
